turning on computer

When I turn on my computer I get the following
cmos.CHECKSUM ERROR-Defaults loaded
CMOS Battery failed
Press F1 to continue
and it conyinues to load.

You could also open the computer case (assuming it is a desktop) and look for the little button battery on the motherboard. Pop it out and bring it to radio shack and ask them for a replacement of the exact same type.

There is a certain amount of information stored in CMOS memory on your computer, mainly boot up information or BIOS. That memory is kept alive by a small battery, similar to a watch battery. Apparently, from the error message you are receiving, the battery that keeps your BIOS alive has failed. You probably need to take it to a computer repair facility and have the battery replaced.
