There is not one that comes with windows. It would not mess up your computer, but it would be illegal.

The noise is part of the Microsoft Agent that guides you through the Out-Of-Box-Experience, the animated question mark. So the WAV files that correspond to the sounds you're looking for are embedded in "%SystemRoot%\system32\oobe\images\qmark.acs".

Alhough they can be extracted using an HEX Editor, you shouldn't attempt to do it. It would probably be a violation of not only copyright but of the license agreement as well, since you'd be disassembling windows files.

OK, I won't do it, but just out of curiousity, where would the HEX Editor be?

If I disassembled the windows files like you say, does that mean I would mess up my computer for good?

If I did, would I be able to a full recovery with all of the recovery disks?

Thanks for helping me out again!

When you say HEX Editor, what does HEX stand for?
