I installed a free program called Winferno Power Registry Cleaner that I am now told is much like a virus. How do I remove this program and be sure that I get it completely removed? I am running Windows XP Home.
First run the uninstaller from the add/remove programs panel, then run Spybot: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html Update it and run a full scan. It should pull out that and any other spyware you have on the computer.
What do you mean when you say, "Update it"? What is "it"? I'd like to try this, but you only get one shot at these things before you screw things up worse than they were before.
