not exactly sure what i need.. the pc will be responsible for all of my home entertainment, music, video playback, surfing, gaming etc. it will also need to handle some office tasks as well as maintain all communications within my home... i need something that can handle 5-11 programs simultaneously and not stutter.. i need a workhorse but want all the bells and whistles as well, upgradability is a must unless its just plain too good to pass up for the budget..(should i consider building it myself)..so my question is what am i looking for and how much can i expect to spend to meet my needs, all i have learned thus far is that i can spend and spend and still not get the performance i need... any advice will be taken to heart and very much appreciated..
Here is what i recommend: Get an HP desktop, running XP Pro (Not Vista), and get at least 3gigs of ram. That is the key, the Ram. Dual processors would be good, with a high processor rate, but again, the key is Ram. Running multiple programs at the same time is a ram hog, (so is vista :) ) and as soon as you run out of ram, your computer grinds to a halt, no matter the speed of your processor.
