Is the computer a desktop or laptop? If desktop, where is it located (inside desk, etc...). Instal this program to tell what the actual temerature is:
http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php
post what temperature it is running at.

I've got an asus motherboard. and the asus motherboard program "pc probe" says it's temp is 158 F. yeah, that appears very hot to me too. If you think I need to download almico after this info I will. I'm going to try some different thermal grease. right now the desktop is out from under the desk w/ the side taken off. It's still reading as above. thanks for repling. all 3 fans are working.

If your above comment about changing the thermal grease fixed the issue, please mark that comment as "the answer", if something else worked, please log in and post what worked, then mark that as the answer, if it is still running too hot, update us on that too.

The Grease may have helped a bit, but It's still running hot. I turned it off completely for 24 hours. Turned it on and it read 136 F. It says my memory is getting hot too. (not as hot as PCU) Now I'm not sure what to do.

When i had heat issues, i tried taking a 12 inch room fan and putting it where the side door used to be, blowing on the case. If you do this and it is still running hot, you know airflow is not the problem.

have you re-seated your cpu yet? also, they make RAM heatsinks that slip over the ram and cool it down.

Its ok to let it abandon if you do not yet know if that comment was the answer. Once you figure out either way, mark the comment as such.

There is not really a good way of checking the validity of the reported temperature, outside of putting a thermometer on the affected part (not suggested). Since the fan is running all the time, and it seems hot, there is no reason to think the readings are not accurate. To fix the issue, you should get RAM heatsinks and redo the CPU heatsink.

No I can do everything but play games. The games start fine then they get slower until they just stop.

Can you try checking the temperature, then starting the game, and about half way till it usually crashes, see if the temperature has gone up and if so how much?

can I not abandon this b/c it's still an issue? I didn't know I had to mark every response.

I wanted to leave response's up b/c they had good information on them. I thought that if I marked it, that the comment would disapear.

No, some forums I've read say that it might be in the bios. Need to find a way to see if the temp readings are accurate.
